Welcome to a visual journey of Firenze through the eyes of Mina Loy's life and poetry! Feel free to follow the order we designed, or click around for yourself!
To the right is the link to our Prezi journey through Florence, "Baedeker of Florence"
The difference in color signifies the different kinds of references.
Blue represents those references found in Loy’s poetry. Green represents the references from the Carolyn Burke biography. Orange represents the "meta" slides which describe overall information.
This allows an easy visual representation of the kinds of information regarding Loy’s time in Florence. This is reinforced with the use of the Baedeker map, a map close to Loy's own time period.
The poetic references at their face value are places she spoke of, and in most cases, places she frequented. The references from Burke are places Loy spent time in, and the multiple locations she lived while in Florence. In some cases, the information from Burke merely reinforced information from Loy’s poetry.
Mina Loy's Studio in Florence, 1907-1916
All of the places marked on the map (except the orange circles) are positioned to their physical location. For example, Loy's studio at Costa San Giorgio 54 is above in Google maps, and it was placed carefully at the same location on the Baedeker map on the Prezi.
Following each place are pictures, historical information and references, including Loy's poem and biographical information. For the blue circles, the size of the circle reveals the number of references: bigger circles signal that Loy referenced this location more times than compared to other locations.
